Maarten Van Severen design chairs in St Bavo’s Cathedral

800 new design chairs now have pride of place in St Bavo’s Cathedral. The old wooden knee stools have been replaced with the famous chair no. 3 by the late Ghent designer Maarten Van Severen. The choice of the new chairs was influenced primarily by criteria such as comfort and stackability. That the decision ultimately favoured a design by a Ghent designer was a welcome bonus.
