Guestbook

Were you a guest in our city? We’d like to hear what you thought of it, so we’ve set up this guest book. Sing the city’s praises or let us know what we can do (even) better. We shall read your comments attentively and certainly take them into account!

For the first time taking my motorhome out of Ireland, I choose Belgium. No particular reason other than my grown up children were there last year. Gent was absolutely awesome as was Brugge but the festivals in Gent gave it the edge. The weather was great, the music was fantastic and the people were so friendly I think they must have Irish blood in them...and the beer!!!!

If ever I decided to leave Ireland somewhere close to Gent is where I would go. Everything seemed so friendly and informal in fact its the only place I have ever met such happy friendly and informal police. In short my wife and I fell in love with your city and will be back next year

Ghent is a nugget of pure gold

In my experience, Ghent is a paradise for culture buffs and connoisseurs of fine cuisine alike. I have visited the city on numerous occasions for both business and pleasure and have come to feel very at home in its medieval old town with its abundance of historical buildings and heritage sights.

In particular, I adore strolling through the winding streets and alleys of the district of Patershol, with its charming architecture and occasionally not-so-subtle references to the borough's seedy history.

Added to that is a generous scattering of highly atmospheric cafes, taverns and eateries, where you will soon find yourself chatting to the friendly locals over a glass of masterfully brewed Belgian "trappist". My favourite restaurant is without question Al Castello, serving what is probably the world's most delicious gourmet pizza -- try the "Pizza Gravensteen".

Most importantly though, I find the atmosphere warm and welcoming: Ghent is a very tourist-friendly city with excellent facilities and services. Public transport is efficient and inexpensive, information is readily available and tours and activities are well organised.

To sum it up, Ghent is beautiful and beguiling and bursting with liveliness. It simply cannot disappoint.
