In collaboration with the Gentse Gidsen and the Parks and Public Gardens Department (Groendienst), we have developed four brand-new cycling routes, each highlighting a different corner of our city. Discover them all: Religious heritage, City of green, Origins of a city by the water and A green belt around the city. Every route takes you off the beaten path, to discover a few less known spots in Ghent.

Ghent is every traveller’s dream: a compact city with a cosy, car-free historical city centre, and many monuments and museums within walking distance. And now you can also discover Ghent by bicycle. It’s fast and healthy, and you can easily move away from the city centre to discover some hidden gems, like the beguinages. Cycling is perfect for visitors who want to see more than just the three towers.
The routes vary in length, from 10 km to 25 km. They have been included in two separate booklets in A5 format, handy guides to discover the city at your own pace. At the moment, they are only available in Dutch. Each booklet contains two routes, as well as additional information on the area and the attractions, and can be purchased at the Tourist Information Office for 7 euro. These booklets, with their quality paper and many photos, also make beautiful souvenirs.
The cycling routes can be ordered online here.
Below you will find an interactive overview of the routes. If you have a bicycle GPS, you can also download the routes for free in gpx format.
